State board revokes license of St. Charles County CPA

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri State Board of Accountancy has revoked the individual license of John Edwin Burns, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), license number 2011029001.

Burns, while practicing in St. Charles, Missouri, misappropriated his clients’ funds and failed to obtain the required continuing education. The board’s complaint established 24 separate violations. 

The revocation of the CPA license means John Edwin Burns can no longer represent himself as a CPA or perform functions that require a CPA license. 

The Missouri State Board of Accountancy is the state agency that regulates the accountancy profession in Missouri. In addition, the board issues individual and entity licenses within the accountancy profession, sets policy regarding the practice within the profession, investigates complaints concerning individuals and entities, and takes disciplinary action against professional licensees when appropriate.
