Insurance producers to receive six hours of CE, attorneys to receive 5.8 hours of CLE

Jefferson City, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Insurance announced today that three of the nation's leading consumer advocates will share their perspectives on the "Understanding Today's Insurance Consumer" panel at the 2014 Director's Regulatory Summit.

Dr. Brenda Cude is a professor and undergraduate coordinator in the Department of Housing and Consumer Economics at the University of Georgia. Lois Alexander is the market regulation manager at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Andrea Routh is the executive director of the Missouri Health Advocacy Alliance. The panel will be moderated by Angela Nelson, director of the Market Regulation Division at the department.

"Our panelists will provide excellent insight into what motivates and challenges consumers' buying habits," said Department Director John M. Huff. "The panelists will also identify opportunities for the insurance industry to better reach out and communicate with consumers in today's dynamic insurance marketplace."

The Summit has been approved for 5.8 continuing legal education hours by the Missouri Bar Association. Insurance producers can earn up to six continuing education hours.

The Summit will be held Oct. 15 in St. Louis. Attendees can register at http://insurance.mo.gov/summit/. Cost is $99.

Department leadership and team members will engage with industry on a variety of regulatory issues at the Summit. Sessions on Missouri solvency modernization initiatives, consumer services, product filings, market conduct and much more will be available.
