Missouri Insurance Director Chlora Lindley-Myers provides updates to Missouri Insurance Coalition

Jefferson City, Mo– Missouri Department of Insurance Director Chlora Lindley-Myers joined members of the Missouri Insurance Coalition at the annual fall meeting in Kansas City to discuss issues facing the insurance industry.

Lindley-Myers thanked the group for the opportunity to share information from the Department and increase the communication and collaboration between state government and industry.

Missouri Insurance Coalition members listened to updates on a variety of topics including National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) model legislation passed during the 2018 session, property and casualty issues, and life and health updates.

The Director also provided information regarding changes to the market conduct processes for Missouri. Several of these changes were a result of the department’s work with industry representatives who, with Department of Insurance staff, reviewed the current market conduct processes. The outcome from this working group was a set of recommendations that were accepted by the Department. These proposed rules are now pending review and approval by Governor Parson’s office.

“I am very pleased with the cooperative relationship the Department has with industry and the Missouri Insurance Coalition,” Lindley-Myers said. “By working together, we can continue to contribute to a legislative process that creates a successful and responsive regulatory structure. Our goal is to always protect Missouri consumers and provide a level playing field for insurers doing business in our state.”
