Missouri Department of Insurance announces keynote for Director's Regulatory Summit

Leadership roundtable will focus on emerging trends

Jefferson City, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Insurance announced today that nationally recognized transportation safety expert, Dr. Adrian Lund, will serve as the keynote speaker at the 2014 Director's Regulatory Summit. Lund is the president of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. His presentation will center on the dangers of distracted driving and ties into the department's MO Eyes on the Road Campaign. The campaign raises awareness about the consequences associated with distracted driving.

Furthermore, the department announced the addition of a leadership roundtable discussion to the Summit's agenda. Department Director John M. Huff will moderate the roundtable discussion which will feature the leadership team of Market Regulation Division Director Angela Nelson, Company Regulation Acting Division Director John Rehagen, Consumer Affairs Acting Division Director Carrie Couch and Administration Division Director Grady Martin. The discussion will focus on emerging trends facing the insurance industry, including unclaimed property, Holding Company and ORSA Model Acts, market conduct trends and issues, and drivers of consumer complaints.

"The Summit fosters a unique platform in which the industry has the opportunity to meet face-to-face with state regulators," said Huff. "Our department strives to maintain an open and collaborative relationship with the insurance industry."

The Summit will be held Oct. 15 in St. Louis, Missouri. Registration is $99 and is available at http://insurance.mo.gov/summit/.

At the 2014 Director's Regulatory Summit, department leadership and staff will engage with industry on a variety of regulatory issues. Sessions on Missouri solvency modernization initiatives, consumer services, product filings, market conduct and much more will be available. Continuing education credit will be available for attendees.
