Missouri Senate confirms Lee R. Keith as Commissioner of Finance
Jefferson City, Mo – Lee R. Keith has been confirmed by the Missouri Senate to become the Commissioner of the Missouri Division of Finance. The division regulates state-chartered banks, trust companies, consumer credit facilities, mortgage brokers, and savings and loan institutions. The role of the commissioner is to ensure the safety and soundness of those institutions and the monitoring of compliance with laws and regulations, thereby safeguarding the funds of depositors and maintaining public confidence in Missouri’s financial system.
“I am honored to have been chosen to fill the role of Commissioner of Finance,” stated Mr. Keith. “It is my intent to lead the Finance Division by placing emphasis on being professional, an advocate for the banking community, communicative and timely. I refer to this as my PACT and it is at the core of what I believe and how we will conduct our business on behalf of the people of Missouri.”
Mr. Keith’s nearly forty years of experience in the banking industry has prepared him well for this leadership role. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration for the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1976. The Chillicothe native then returned to his hometown and began his banking career with the Dickinson Financial Corporation. During his career he has provided leadership to address challenging bank issues in Missouri, Illinois, Texas and Florida. Keith’s areas of expertise include strategic planning, capital raising, asset management, mergers and acquisitions and compliance with state and federal banking requirements.
